What are Methylprednisolone side effects?

Common side effects of methylprednisolone include:

  • Stomach discomfort
  • Upset stomach
  • Vomiting
  • Headache
  • Drowsiness
  • Dizziness
  • Restlessness
  • Insomnia
  • High blood pressure
  • High blood sugar level
  • Mood swings
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Increased hair growth
  • Acne
  • Easy bruising
  • Irregular or absent menstrual periods
  • Rapid weight gain

Some of the adverse effects of methylprednisolone are more serious. Contact your healthcare professional or seek immediate medical attention if you experience signs and symptoms such as:

  • Skin rash
  • Swelling of the face, ankles, or lower legs
  • Problems with vision
  • Long-lasting colds or infections
  • Slow wound healing
  • Black, tarry stools
  • Muscle weakness
  • Severe depression

Methylprednisolone Overdose: In case of a known or suspected overdose, immediately call your doctor or the local poison control center. If the person can’t be awakened, has had a seizure, or has trouble breathing, call 911.
