What is Methylprednisolone used for?

Methylprednisolone is a prescription corticosteroid medication. It helps to relieve inflammation and is used to treat hormonal, joint, skin, blood, eye, kidney, and intestinal disorders as well as allergic conditions.

Methylprednisolone Mechanism of Action

Methylprednisolone is a corticosteroid. It helps reduce signs and symptoms of inflammation such as redness, swelling, warmth, and pain by affecting the immune system.

What is the dosage of Methylprednisolone?

Methylprednisolone is available as 2 mg, 4 mg, 8 mg, 16 mg, and 32 mg tablets. Anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive doses range from 4 mg to 48 mg, depending on the severity of the condition. Your doctor will give you a dosing schedule and recommend dosage adjustments based on your response and side effects.

Methylprednisolone is also available in dosage forms for parenteral therapy (for example, a solution that can be injected into a vein or muscle).
