Pravastatin Side Effects

The possible side effects of pravastatin are listed below. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects if they are severe or persist after a few days.

  • Heartburn
  • Headache
  • Confusion
  • Forgetfulness or memory problems

Pravastatin can also cause more serious side effects. Call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical help if you develop:

  • Unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness
  • Fever, nausea, unusual tiredness, weakness, loss of appetite, right upper stomach pain, yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, light-colored stools
  • Unusual bleeding or bruising
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Unusual or allergic reaction with a skin rash, hives, itching
  • Swelling of the face, eyes, lips, tongue, throat, hands, lower legs, ankles, or feet
  • Chest pain
  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Hoarseness

Pravastatin Overdose: In case of an overdose of pravastatin, call your doctor immediately. You can also call the local poison control center or national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If a person cannot be awakened, has trouble breathing, has collapsed, or has had a seizure, call 911.
