What are Cymbalta (duloxetine) side effects?

Possible side effects of Cymbalta are listed below. Contact your doctor if these adverse effects are severe or do not improve over time.

  • Gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, heartburn, abdominal pain, or decreased appetite
  • Dry mouth
  • Increased urination or difficulty with urination
  • Dizziness, drowsiness, headache, tiredness, weakness
  • Sweating or night sweats
  • Muscle pain or muscle cramps
  • Sexual dysfunction
  • Uncontrolled shaking

Some of the possible side effects of Cymbalta are more serious. Get in touch with your doctor without delay if you experience the following signs and symptoms:

  • Abnormal bruising or bleeding
  • Abdominal pain in the right upper area, swelling of the abdomen
  • Itching, yellowing of the eyes or skin
  • Dark urine
  • Loss of appetite
  • Extreme tiredness or weakness
  • Fever, confusion, sweating, fast heartbeat, severe muscle stiffness
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Rash, hives, blistering, or peeling skin
  • Hoarseness
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Swelling of the throat, mouth, tongue, lips, hands, or feet

The above list may not include all the possible side effects of Cymbalta. Talk to your doctor if you have severe side effects or your symptoms do not improve over time. You can also report unusual side effects to the Food and Drug Administration at 1-800-FDA-1088.

Cymbalta Overdose: In case of a known or suspected Cymbalta overdose, call your doctor immediately or call the poison control center on 1-800-222-1222. If a person can’t be awakened, has had a seizure, or has trouble breathing, call 911. Symptoms of Cymbalta overdose may include agitation, hallucinations, fast heartbeat, drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, loss of coordination, fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, seizures, and fainting.
