Diclofenac Sodium Side Effects
Possible side effects of diclofenac sodium are listed below. Call your doctor if these adverse effects are severe or do not go away in a few days.
- Diarrhea
- Constipation
- Bloating or gas
- Dizziness
- Headache
- Ringing in the ears
Rarely, diclofenac sodium can cause more serious side effects. Stop using diclofenac sodium and call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical help if you experience the following warning symptoms:
- Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
- Chest pain
- Swelling of the abdomen, hands, lower legs, ankles, or feet
- Unexplained weight gain
- Tiredness, lack of energy
- Nausea
- Loss of appetite
- Stomach pain in the right upper part of the abdomen
- Yellowing of the skin or eyes
- Itching
- Fever or flu-like symptoms
- Skin rash, hives, blisters
- Swelling of the face, eyes, lips, tongue, or throat
- Fast heartbeat
- Hoarseness
- Pale skin
- Unusual bruising or bleeding
- Pain or difficulty with urination
- Discolored, bloody, or cloudy urine
- Back pain
The above list may not include all the possible side effects of diclofenac sodium. Tell your health care professional if your side effects are unusual or severe or they do not get better over time. You can also report unusual side effects to the Food and Drug Administration at 1-800-FDA-1088.
Diclofenac sodium Overdose: In case of an overdose, seek immediate medical attention. Contact your doctor or call the national poison control center on 1-800-222-1222. If a person has trouble breathing, cannot be awakened, or has had a seizure, call 911. Signs and symptoms of a diclofenac overdose may include stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, coffee grounds in vomit, black or tarry stools, drowsiness, slowed breathing, and loss of consciousness.
