Uses

Activella Uses

Activella is used for hormone replacement therapy in postmenopausal women with moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, and vaginal atrophy. It is also used to prevent postmenopausal osteoporosis.

There may be other uses of Activella—your doctor or pharmacist can give you further drug information.

Activella Mechanism of Action

Activella is a combination of estradiol which is an estrogen and norethindrone which is a progestin. Estradiol replaces estrogen in women with decreasing estrogen receptor levels. It also prevents bone loss and postmenopausal osteoporosis. Norethindrone helps to balance the effects of estrogen on the uterine lining.

Activella Doses

Activella comes in the form of a tablet in two strengths:

  • 1 mg of estradiol and 0.5 mg of norethindrone acetate
  • 0.5 mg of estradiol and 0.1 mg of norethindrone acetate

The usual dose is one tablet once daily.
