How To Use Esterified Estrogens and Methyltestosterone
Esterified estrogens and methyltestosterone come in the form of a tablet to be taken by mouth 1-2 times daily. Try to take your medicine at around the same time(s) every day.
Read the prescription label carefully and take the medicine exactly as prescribed. Do not change the dose, dosing frequency, or treatment duration without your doctor’s approval. Your healthcare provider may ask you to take the medicine in a cyclic manner, i.e., three weeks on and one week off.
You should take esterified estrogens and methyltestosterone at the lowest effective dose for the shortest time possible. Your provider will reevaluate you periodically at 3- or 6-month intervals to determine if treatment with esterified estrogens and methyltestosterone is still required.
If you have a uterus, your doctor will monitor you carefully for signs of endometrial cancer. They may order diagnostic tests, such as endometrial sampling, for early detection of endometrial cancer or to rule out cancer if you have recurring abnormal vaginal bleeding.
Missed dose: If you miss a dose of esterified estrogens and methyltestosterone, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose according to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose or extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.
Storage: Store esterified estrogens and methyltestosterone at room temperature (between 15-30° C or 59-86° F) away from moisture, heat, and direct light in its original container, tightly closed. Do not store medications in the bathroom, where they can be exposed to moisture and heat. Keep all medications safely out of reach of children and pets.
Unused medicine: Unused or expired esterified estrogens and methyltestosterone should be disposed of in a way that children, other people, and pets cannot get to them. Do not throw esterified estrogens and methyltestosterone in the trash or flush it down the toilet. The best way to dispose of expired or unneeded esterified estrogens and methyltestosterone is through your local waste disposal company or a drug take-back program.
