Hydralazine Side Effects
Possible side effects of hydralazine are listed below. Call your doctor if the adverse effects are severe or persist after your body adjusts to the medicine.
- Headache
- Flushing
- Upset stomach
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Constipation
- Loss of appetite
- Stuffy nose
- Tearing of the eyes
- Rash
Less commonly, hydralazine can cause some very serious side effects. Call your doctor promptly or seek emergency medical attention if you develop the following serious symptoms:
- Allergic reactions (severe skin rash, hives, itching, blistering, peeling)
- Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing
- Severe tiredness
- Fainting
- Fever
- Joint or muscle pain
- Chest pain
- Fast or irregular heartbeat
- Numbness or tingling in the hands or feet
- Swelling of the ankles or feet
The above list may not include all the potential side effects of hydralazine. Contact your healthcare provider if the adverse reactions are unusual or severe or they do not get better over time. You can also report unusual side effects to the Food and Drug Administration at 1-800-FDA-1088.
Hydralazine Overdose: In case of an overdose of hydralazine, call your doctor immediately. You can also call your local poison control center, provincial poison control center, or the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Call 911 if a person has trouble breathing, cannot be awakened, has had a seizure, or has collapsed.
