Acetaminophen Tips from Pharmacists
Make sure you do not take more than 3,000 to 4,000 mg of acetaminophen in one day from all products combined.
The orally disintegrating tablet or powder form of acetaminophen can be placed directly on the tongue. It will dissolve almost immediately, and you can then swallow the medicine.
If you are giving liquid acetaminophen to a child for pain relief or fever, use dosing devices like a syringe or cup to measure the dose accurately. Using a household spoon can result in the wrong dose.
Store acetaminophen suppositories in a cool, dry place to prevent them from melting. Open the foil wrapper of the suppository only when you are ready to use it.
Contact your healthcare provider if your pain is no better after 10 days or your fever is still present after 3 days of taking acetaminophen.
Do not take acetaminophen if you are a heavy drinker (3 or more alcoholic beverages per day).
