How should I use Activated Charcoal?

Take this medicine by mouth. It is usually given by a health care professional in a hospital or clinic setting.

If you are taking this medicine at home, follow the directions of your health care provider. Do not take this medicine unless told to do so. Shake well before using. This medicine works best if used within 30 to 60 minutes of overdose or poisoning. If the dose is vomited, ask your doctor what you should do.

Talk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed.

Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of Activated Charcoal contact a poison control center or emergency room at once. NOTE: Activated Charcoal is only for you. Do not share Activated Charcoal with others.

What if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses.
