How To Use Amlodipine-Benazepril (Lotrel)

Amlodipine and benazepril come in the form of a capsule to be taken by mouth with water once a day. You can take this medication with or without food. Take your medicine at around the same time every day - this will help you remember to take it.

Read the prescription label and follow your doctor’s dosing instructions carefully. Use amlodipine and benazepril exactly as directed. Do not take a higher or lower dose of this combination medicine or take it more or less frequently than your doctor says.

Amlodipine and benazepril will treat high blood pressure but will not cure your condition. Continue taking the medicine even if you feel well. Do not stop taking amlodipine and benazepril without talking to your healthcare provider as this can lead to a dangerous increase in blood pressure.

Missed dose: If you miss a dose of amlodipine and benazepril, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose according to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

Storage: Store amlodipine and benazepril at room temperature (between 15-30° C or 59-86° F) away from moisture, heat, and direct light in a tightly closed container. Do not store medications in the bathroom where they can be exposed to moisture and heat. Keep all medications safely out of reach of children and pets.

Unused medicine: Unused amlodipine and benazepril should be disposed of in a way that children, other people, and pets cannot get to them.
