How To Use Amlodipine Valsartan (Exforge)

Amlodipine-valsartan comes in the form of an oral tablet to take by mouth once daily. You can take this medicine with or without food. Try to take your medicine at the same time every day.

Read the prescription label carefully and take amlodipine and valsartan exactly as prescribed. Do not change the dose or dosing frequency unless your doctor tells you to.

Your doctor may start you on a low dose of amlodipine valsartan and increase the dose after 1-2 weeks, if needed, based on control of high blood pressure. Follow your doctor’s dosing instructions carefully. Keep a log of your blood pressure readings at home and tell your doctor if you do not see an improvement after you have been taking amlodipine valsartan regularly for 2-4 weeks.

Amlodipine valsartan can control high blood pressure but does not cure the condition. You cannot tell based on symptoms alone that the medicine is working properly. Continue taking Exforge (amlodipine valsartan) every day even if you are symptom-free and your blood pressure readings at home are in the normal range. Do not stop taking your blood pressure medicine without talking to your healthcare provider.

Missed dose: If you miss a dose of amlodipine valsartan, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose according to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose or extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

Storage: Store amlodipine valsartan at room temperature (between 15-30° C or 59-86° F) away from moisture, heat, and direct light in its original container, tightly closed. Do not store medications in the bathroom where they can be exposed to moisture and heat. Keep all medications safely out of reach of children and pets.

Unused medicine: Unused amlodipine valsartan should be disposed of in a way that children, other people, and pets cannot get to them. Do not throw amlodipine valsartan in the trash or flush it down the toilet.
