Atenolol Chlorthalidone (Tenoretic 50) Side Effects

Possible side effects of atenolol and chlorthalidone are listed below. Call your doctor for medical advice if they are severe or continue after a few days once your body adjusts to the medicines.

  • Tiredness 
  • Low energy
  • Dizziness and lightheadedness
  • Drowsiness
  • Headache
  • Sensation of cold in the extremities
  • Stomach pain
  • Upset stomach
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Loss of appetite
  • Slowed heartbeat
  • Leg pain
  • Muscle weakness
  • Depression
  • Frequent urination
  • Excessive thirst
  • Hair loss

Atenolol and chlorthalidone can also cause possibly other adverse reactions that are more serious. Call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical help if you develop the following symptoms:

  • Signs of an allergic reaction (skin rash, hives, itching, peeling, blistering skin)
  • Wheezing
  • Shortness of breath or trouble breathing
  • Rapid, pounding, or irregular heartbeat
  • Unusual tiredness
  • Swelling of the hands or feet
  • Unexplained weight gain
  • Fainting
  • Dry eyes
  • Unusual bleeding or bruising
  • Flu-like symptoms (fever, chills, sore throat)

Atenolol chlorthalidone Overdose: In case of an overdose of atenolol chlorthalidone, call your doctor immediately. You can also call your local poison control center or the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Call 911 if a person has trouble breathing, has collapsed, is unresponsive, or has had a seizure. Signs and symptoms of an overdose may include difficulty breathing, slow heart rate, dizziness, blurred vision, headache, swelling in the hands and feet, weakness, and tiredness.
