Atomoxetine Side Effects

Possible side effects of atomoxetine are listed below. Call your doctor if the adverse effects are severe or persist after a few days.

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Heartburn
• Stomach pain
• Gas
• Constipation
• Decreased appetite
• Weight loss
• Dry mouth
• Excessive fatigue
• Headache
• Dizziness
• Mood swings
• Reduced sex drive or sexual ability
• Problems with urination
• Irregular or painful menstrual periods
• Sweating
• Hot flashes
• Muscle pain
• Unusual dreams
• Tingling or burning in the arms, hands, legs, or feet

Some of the adverse effects of atomoxetine are more serious. Call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical attention if you develop the following serious symptoms:

• Rapid or pounding heartbeat
• Shortness of breath
• Chest pain
• Trouble speaking
• Fainting
• Dizziness
• Weakness or numbness in an arm or leg
• Itching
• Yellowing of the skin or eyes
• Dark urine
• Flu-like symptoms
• Right upper belly pain 
• Swelling of the face, eyes, lips, tongue, throat, hands, lower legs, ankles, or feet (allergic reaction)
• Trouble breathing or swallowing
• Hoarseness
• Skin rash, hives
• Strange or unusual thoughts
• Hallucinations (hearing voices or seeing things that are not there)
• Priapism (a painful erection that lasts more than 4 hours)
• Convulsions

Atomoxetine Overdose: In case of an overdose of atomoxetine, call your doctor immediately. You can also call your local poison control center or the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Overdose symptoms may include sleepiness, hyperactivity, agitation, abnormal behavior, stomach pain, widened pupils, dry mouth, and a fast heartbeat.
