What is Baclofen (Ozobax) used for?

  • Muscle pain and spasticity (muscle stiffness and tightness) from multiple sclerosis 
  • Muscle pain and stiffness from spinal cord diseases and injuries, or other spinal cord diseases
  • Muscle pain relief and improvement of muscle movement 

How does Baclofen (Ozobax) work?

Baclofen is a skeletal muscle relaxant. It acts directly on the spinal cord nerves, thus decreasing the frequency and severity of the muscle spasticity caused by multiple sclerosis or spinal cord diseases and injuries.  

What is the suggested dosing for Baclofen (Ozobax)?

  • A smaller dose is typically started at the beginning of treatment. Then it can be slowly increased by your provider based on your response and tolerance.
  • For adults and children at least 12 years old, the typical dose of baclofen is 5 mg to 20 mg three times daily. The following titration schedule is commonly used to achieve the optimal effects:
    • 5 mg by mouth three times daily for 3 days
    • 10 mg by mouth three times daily for 3 days
    • 15 mg by mouth three times daily for 3 days
    • 20 mg by mouth three times daily for 3 days
  • A maximum total daily dose is 80 mg - this is the maximum amount you should take in a single day.
