How To Use Benazepril (Lotensin) 

Benazepril comes in the form of a tablet to be taken by mouth once or twice a day as prescribed. You can take this medicine with or without food. Doctors recommend taking your medicine at around the same time every day - this helps you remember to take the pill. 

Read the prescription label and patient information leaflet carefully. Do not adjust the dose of benazepril, increase or decrease the dosage frequency, or alter the duration of the treatment without your doctor’s approval.

Your doctor will likely start you on a low dose of benazepril and gradually increase the dose based on your response and blood pressure control. This medicine will help to lower your blood pressure but will not cure your condition. Do not stop taking benazepril without consulting your healthcare provider, even if you feel well and have no symptoms.

Missed dose: If you miss a dose of benazepril, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose according to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

Storage: Store benazepril at room temperature (between 15-30° C or 59-86° F) away from moisture, heat, and direct light in a tightly closed container. Do not store medications in the bathroom where they can be exposed to moisture and heat. Keep all medications safely out of reach of children and pets.

Unused medicine: Unused benazepril should be disposed of in a way that children, other people, and pets cannot get to them. Do not throw benazepril in the trash or flush it down the toilet.
