Benzoyl Peroxide Tips from Pharmacists

  • Wash your hands after applying benzoyl peroxide to avoid accidental contact with clothes or hair (benzoyl peroxide can bleach them).

  • Avoid unnecessary sunlight exposure or use of sunlamps or tanning beds. Wear protective clothing and sunscreen to protect your skin.

  • Stop using the product and tell your doctor if benzoyl peroxide causes severe skin irritation.

  • Avoid getting benzoyl peroxide into your eyes, nose, or mouth.

  • Do not be discouraged if your acne doesn’t improve immediately. It can take a few weeks to get the best results from benzoyl peroxide.
