Bismuth Subsalicylate Side Effects
Bismuth subsalicylate is generally well tolerated and does not cause serious side effects when used as directed. It can occasionally cause serious side effects such as tinnitus (ringing or buzzing in your ears). Call your doctor immediately if you develop any new or unusual effects after starting bismuth salts. You can also report unusual side effects to the Food and Drug Administration at 1-800-FDA-1088.
Bismuth subsalicylate Overdose: In case of bismuth salicylate toxicity, call your doctor immediately. You can also call the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Call 911 or emergency services if a person has collapsed, cannot breathe, has had a seizure, or cannot be awakened.
