How To Use Bisoprolol Fumarate

Bisoprolol fumarate comes in the form of a tablet taken by mouth once a day with water. You can take this medicine with or without food. Try to take your medicine at around the same time every day.

Read the prescription label and follow your doctor’s dosing instructions carefully. Do not change the dose or dosing frequency without your doctor’s approval.

Your doctor may start you on a lower dose of bisoprolol fumarate and gradually increase the dose. It can take several weeks for bisoprolol fumarate to help you achieve blood pressure control. This medication can treat high blood pressure but does not cure the condition. Continue taking bisoprolol fumarate regularly even, if you don’t have any symptoms. Do not suddenly stop taking bisoprolol fumarate without consulting your healthcare provider—doing so can put you at risk of angina (chest pain), irregular heartbeat, and heart attack. If you need to come off bisoprolol fumarate, your doctor will tell you how to decrease the dose over a period of one week, ask you to avoid exercising during this time, and monitor yourself carefully.

Missed dose: If you miss a dose of bisoprolol fumarate, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose according to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose or extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

Storage: Store bisoprolol fumarate at room temperature (between 15-30° C or 59-86° F) away from moisture, heat, and direct light in a tightly closed container. Do not store medications in the bathroom where they can be exposed to moisture and heat. Keep all medications safely out of reach of children and pets.

Unused medicine: Unused bisoprolol fumarate should be disposed of in a way that children, other people, and pets cannot get to them. Do not throw bisoprolol fumarate in the trash or flush it down the toilet. The best way to dispose of expired or unneeded bisoprolol fumarate is through a drug take-back program or your local waste disposal company. Learn more about proper medication disposal
