How To Use Bumetanide

Take bumetanide tablets once a day by mouth as prescribed. Your doctor may ask you to take a second or third dose to control edema. 

Read the prescription label and patient information leaflet carefully. Take bumetanide exactly as directed by your doctor. Do not change the dose or dosing frequency or take this medicine for prolonged periods without your doctor’s approval. Bumetanide is a strong diuretic and taking too much of this medicine can result in severe electrolyte depletion. 

Bumetanide can help to treat edema but will not cure the underlying condition. Do not stop bumetanide treatment without talking to your doctor first.

Missed dose: If you miss a dose of bumetanide, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose according to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose or extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

Storage: Store bumetanide between 15-30° C or 59-86° F (at room temperature) away from moisture, heat, and direct light in a tightly closed container. Do not store medications in the bathroom where they can be exposed to moisture and heat. Keep all medications safely out of reach of children and pets.

Unused medicine: Unused bumetanide should be disposed of in a way that children, other people, and pets cannot access it. Do not flush bumetanide down the toilet.
