  • Bumetanide is fast-acting and works quickly to remove extra fluid from the body. It starts working within 30 to 60 minutes with its peak effect occurring in 1-2 hours. 
  • You typically need to take it only once daily by mouth.
  • It is available in a lower-cost generic form.
  • Bumetanide is an option for people with an allergy to furosemide (Lasix).
