Bumetanide Side Effects
Possible side effects of bumetanide are listed below. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects if they are severe or do not go away in a few days.
- Frequent urination
- Dizziness
- Diarrhea
- Upset stomach
Rarely, bumetanide can cause more serious adverse effects. Call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical help if you develop the following symptoms.
- Ringing in the ears
- Hearing loss
- Serious skin reactions with skin rash, hives, itching
- Trouble breathing or swallowing
- Chest pain
- Unusual bleeding or bruising
- Signs of dehydration and fluid and electrolyte losses such as sudden severe weight loss, dry mouth, increased thirst, decreased urination, drowsiness, weakness, nausea, vomiting, muscle pain, muscle cramps, mental confusion, and a rapid or pounding heartbeat
The above list may not include all the potential side effects of bumetanide. Call your doctor if you have any unusual side effects or if the side effects do not get better over time. You can also report unusual side effects to the Food and Drug Administration at 1-800-FDA-1088.
Bumetanide Overdose: In case of an overdose of bumetanide, call your doctor immediately. You can also call your local poison control center, provincial poison control center, or the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If a person has collapsed, stopped breathing, is not responding, or has had a seizure, call 911. Symptoms of a bumetanide overdose may include dizziness, confusion, weakness, tiredness, stomach cramps, vomiting, and loss of appetite.
