Precautions Before Starting Butalbital Acetaminophen Caffeine
Tell your health care provider if you are allergic to butalbital, acetaminophen, caffeine or any other medications. Your pharmacy can give you a full list of active and inactive ingredients in this combination of medicines.
Give your doctor and pharmacist a complete list of all your medicines, including prescription drugs, non-prescription drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements. This will help avoid possible drug interactions between your medications.
Give your doctor a complete medical history. Butalbital, acetaminophen, caffeine may not be right for people with certain medical conditions such as liver disease, porphyria, or depression.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, could be pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are nursing an infant with breast milk.
Precautions During Use of Butalbital Acetaminophen Caffeine
Keep all your medical and lab appointments while on butalbital, acetaminophen, caffeine.
This combination of medications can make you drowsy and dizzy. Do not drive or do any activity that requires your full focus until you know how it affects you. Avoid drinking alcohol as this can make side effects worse and increase your risk of injuries and accidents.
Tell all your doctors you are on this medicine before any medical procedures, including dental procedures. Also, tell your health care professional if you become pregnant while taking this medicine.
Butalbital Acetaminophen Caffeine Drug Interactions
Certain other drugs can affect how butalbital, acetaminophen, caffeine work. Possible interactions between the affected drugs can increase the risk of severe adverse effects. The following medications may have possible drug interactions with butalbital, acetaminophen, caffeine:
- Blood thinners (anticoagulants) like warfarin (Coumadin)
- Antihistamines
- Antidepressants
- Pain medications
- Sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers
- Hormonal birth control
- Vitamins
Give your medical doctor and pharmacist a list of all the medicines you take, including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, dietary supplements, and herbal products. Also, tell your healthcare professionals if you smoke, drink alcohol, or use illegal drugs because some of these substances can cause serious health complications when used with prescription medications.
