Carisoprodol (Soma) Uses

Carisoprodol is used to treat acute painful musculoskeletal conditions such as muscle strains and sprains. It is also used to relieve acute musculoskeletal discomfort and muscle spasm in people with severe injuries.

Carisoprodol (Soma) Mechanism of Action

Carisoprodol blocks pain sensations from muscles and leads to muscle relaxation. This medication does not directly relax skeletal muscles. Rather, it acts on the brain and nervous system.

Carisoprodol (Soma) Doses

Carisoprodol is available as a 250-mg and 350-mg tablet. The usual dose of carisoprodol (Soma) is 250 mg to 350 mg four times a day (three times in the daytime and once at bedtime).
