Carvedilol Side Effects

Some of the common side effects of carvedilol are listed below. Tell your doctor if these adverse effects are severe or do not go away after a few days.

• Tiredness, weakness
• Dizziness, lightheadedness
• Headache
• Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
• Joint pain
• Vision changes
• Sleep difficulties
• Cough
• Dry eyes
• Numbness or tingling, or burning sensations in the arms or legs

Some of the adverse effects of carvedilol can be more serious. Contact your doctor right away if you experience symptoms such as:

• Chest pain
• Shortness of breath
• Difficulty breathing or swallowing
• Swelling of the arms, hands, legs, ankles, feet
• Slow or irregular heartbeat
• Rapid weight gain
• Hives, rash, itching, or other signs of a serious allergic reaction

Carvedilol can cause hyperglycemia (high blood sugar levels). Call your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical attention if you experience extreme thirst, hunger, increased urination, weakness, or blurred vision.

Carvedilol Overdose: In case of a known or suspected overdose, call your doctor, the local poison control center, or the provincial poison control center immediately. If the person can’t be awakened, has had a seizure, or has trouble breathing, call 911. Signs and symptoms of a carvedilol overdose may include slow or uneven heartbeats, dizziness, fainting, loss of consciousness, difficulty breathing, vomiting, and seizures.
