Cefdinir Side Effects
Possible adverse effects of cefdinir are listed below. Seek medical advice about side effects if they are severe or do not go away.
- Stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
- Headache
- Reddish colored stools
- Vaginal itching (yeast infection)
Some of the side effects of cefdinir are more serious and require immediate medical attention. Call your doctor without delay or seek emergency medical care if you experience the following symptoms:
- Skin rash, skin pain, hives, itching, peeling or blistering of the skin (signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction)
- Swelling of the face, eyes, throat, tongue, lips, hands, lower legs, ankles, or feet
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing
- Watery or bloody stools (severe diarrhea), severe stomach pain, stomach cramps, fever (this can occur any time during treatment or up to 2 months after finishing antibiotic treatment)
- Fever, chills, sore throat, flu symptoms, or any signs of returning infection

Cefdinir Overdose: In case of an accidental or intentional overdose of cefdinir, call your doctor immediately. You can also call the local poison control center, provincial poison control center, or national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Overdose symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, and seizures. If a person cannot be awakened, has trouble breathing, has collapsed, or has had a seizure, call 911.
