Cefpodoxime is effective against bacterial infections in many parts of the body.
There is a lower-cost generic version available.
Dosage forms include cefpodoxime tablets and oral suspension.
It is safe for use in children older than 2 months of age.

Cefpodoxime needs to be taken twice a day for up to 2 weeks.
It may not be safe if you have a history of hypersensitivity reactions to other cephalosporins or penicillins.
It does not work for colds and flu.
