Cefpodoxime Side Effects
Possible side effects of cefpodoxime are listed below. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects if they are severe or do not go away in a few days.
- Stomach pain
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- White discharge from the vagina
- Vaginal irritation (swelling, redness, itching, burning)
- Headache
Occasionally, cefpodoxime can cause more serious side effects. Call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical attention if you develop:
- Bloody or watery diarrhea with or without stomach cramps and fever (this can occur up to 2 months or more after stopping antibiotic treatment)
- Skin rash, hives, itching
- Wheezing
- Difficulty breathing
- Trouble speaking or swallowing
- Fever, chills, sore throat, and other returning or new signs of infection
- Urinary symptoms or dark urine

Cefpodoxime Overdose: In case of an overdose of cefpodoxime, call your doctor immediately. You can also call your local poison control center or the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Call 911 or emergency services if a person has collapsed, stopped responding, stopped breathing, or had a seizure. Symptoms of a cefpodoxime overdose may include stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
