How To Use Celebrex

Take Celebrex capsules by mouth once or twice a day as prescribed. You can take doses up to 200 mg with or without food, but doses of more than 200 mg of Celebrex at a time should be taken with food.

Read the prescription label carefully and take the medicine exactly as prescribed. Do not take a higher dose or more frequent doses without consulting your doctor. 

If you have trouble swallowing capsules, you can open the Celebrex capsules and sprinkle the contents on some applesauce that is cool or at room temperature. Ingest the mixture immediately or store it in the refrigerator for up to 6 hours. Drink some water after ingesting the Celebrex-applesauce mixture to ensure you swallow all of the medicine.

Celebrex can help control your symptoms but does not cure arthritis. Continue taking the medicine until your doctor tells you to.

Missed dose: If you miss a dose of Celebrex, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose according to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take extra medicine or a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

Storage: Store Celebrex at room temperature (between 15-30° C or 59-86° F) away from moisture, heat, and direct light in the original container, tightly closed. Do not store medications in the bathroom where they can be exposed to moisture and heat. Keep all medications safely out of reach of children and pets.

Unused medicine: Unused Celebrex should be disposed of in a way that children, other people, and pets cannot get to them. Do not throw Celebrex in the trash or flush it down the toilet. The best way to properly discard expired or unneeded Celebrex is through a drug take-back program or your local waste disposal company. Learn more about proper medication disposal.
