Celebrex Tips from Pharmacists
You can take up to 200 mg of Celebrex with or without food. Doses bigger than 200 mg should be taken with food. If the medicine causes stomach upset, taking it with food or milk may help.
If you have trouble swallowing pills or are giving Celebrex to a child, you can open the capsule and sprinkle the contents on some applesauce. Make sure the applesauce is at room temperature or cool. Ingest the mixture immediately or store it in the refrigerator for up to 6 hours. Drink some water afterward to ensure you swallow all of the medicine.
While on Celebrex treatment, check with your doctor before taking other over-the-counter or prescription pain relievers. Taking more than one nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug at the same time can increase your risk of GI bleeding.
Before starting treatment with Celebrex, tell your doctor if you have a history of aspirin allergy, sulfa allergy, or aspirin-sensitive asthma.
