How To Use Celecoxib

Celecoxib comes in the form of a capsule to be taken by mouth once or twice daily. You can take celecoxib with or without food for a dose up to 200 mg. For a dose of more than 200 mg, you should take celecoxib with food. 

If you have trouble swallowing capsules, you can open the celecoxib capsule and sprinkle the contents on some applesauce (it should be cold or at room temperature). The mixture can be prepared in advance and stored for up to 6 hours in a refrigerator. After swallowing the mixture, be sure to drink some water to ensure you swallow all of the medicine.

Follow the instructions on your prescription label carefully and use celecoxib exactly as directed. Do not take a higher or lower dose of this medicine or take it more or less frequently than your doctor prescribes.

Missed dose: If you miss a dose of celecoxib, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose according to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

Storage: Store celecoxib at room temperature (between 15-30° C or 59-86° F) away from moisture, heat, and direct light in a tightly closed container. Do not store medications in the bathroom where they can be exposed to moisture and heat. Keep all medications safely out of reach of children and pets.

Unused medicine: Unused celecoxib should be disposed of in a way that children, other people, and pets cannot get to them. Do not throw celecoxib in the trash or flush it down the toilet.
