Celecoxib Side Effects

Possible side effects of celecoxib are listed below. Call your doctor if these side effects are severe or if they do not go away in a few days.

  • Gas, bloating
  • Constipation
  • Sore throat
  • Cold symptoms
  • Dizziness
  • Changes in taste

Some of the adverse events related to celecoxib can be more serious. Call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical help if you experience any of the following signs and symptoms of a serious drug reaction while on celecoxib:

  • Serious skin reactions (skin rash, hives, blisters, peeling, itching)
  • Swelling of the throat, tongue, lips, eyes, or face
  • Swelling of the abdomen, legs, ankles, or feet
  • Unexplained or rapid weight gain
  • Chest pain
  • Trouble breathing or swallowing
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Unusual tiredness, lack of energy
  • Pain in the right upper part of the abdomen, yellowing of the skin or eyes, itching
  • Systemic symptoms like fever
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Pale skin
  • Fast heartbeat
  • Discolored, cloudy, or bloody urine, painful urination
  • Back pain

Celecoxib Overdose: In case of an accidental or intentional overdose of celecoxib, call your doctor immediately. You can also call the local poison control center or national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Signs and symptoms of a celecoxib overdose may include drowsiness; stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, black or tarry stools; lack of energy; loss of consciousness; skin rash, hives, itching; swelling of the throat, tongue, lips or face; and difficulty breathing or swallowing.
