How To Use Chlorthalidone

Take chlorthalidone exactly as directed by your health care professional or pharmacist. Chlorthalidone oral tablet is taken by mouth with water. It is usually taken once daily in the morning with food. 

Carefully follow the instructions on your prescription label. Do not take a higher or lower dose than what is mentioned on the label or take the medicine more or less frequently than prescribed. 

While chlorthalidone is effective in treating hypertension (high blood pressure), it will not cure the condition. Continue taking chlorthalidone even if you don’t have any symptoms. Do not stop taking chlorthalidone without talking to your health care professional first.

Missed dose: If you miss a dose of chlorthalidone, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose according to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

Storage: Store chlorthalidone at controlled room temperature (between 20-25° C or 68-77° F) away from moisture, heat, and direct light in a tightly closed container. Do not store medications in the bathroom, where they can be exposed to moisture and heat. Keep all medications safely out of reach of children and pets.

Unused medicine: Unused chlorthalidone should be disposed of in a way that children, other people, and pets cannot consume them. Do not flush chlorthalidone down the toilet.
