Clotrimazole-Betamethasone Side Effects

Possible side effects of clotrimazole and betamethasone are listed below. Call your doctor for medical advice if they are severe:

• Rash
• Swelling
• Secondary infections
• Inflammation of the hair follicles
• Excessive hair growth
• Acne
• Patches of skin lighter in color than the surrounding skin
• A red rash around your mouth 
• Skin atrophy (thinning skin)
• Stretch marks
• Prickly heat (sweat rash or heat rash) called miliaria

Some of the adverse reactions reported from clotrimazole and betamethasone use are more serious. Call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical attention if you develop the following signs and symptoms:

• Skin itching, irritation, dryness, redness, blistering, burning, or peeling, which was not present before using the medication
• Paresthesias (pins and needles, prickling, numbness, tingling, burning or crawling sensations)
• Allergic contact dermatitis (rash, hives, itching)

Clotrimazole and betamethasone Overdose: In case of an overdose of clotrimazole and betamethasone, call your doctor immediately. Call 911 or emergency services if a person has collapsed, cannot breathe, has had a seizure, or cannot be awakened.
