How To Use Desloratadine

Take desloratadine by mouth once a day as prescribed. You can take this medication with or without food. 

Read the prescription label carefully and take your medicine exactly as advised. Do not change the dose, dosing frequency, or treatment duration without your healthcare provider’s approval.

If you are taking the oral liquid, use a medication dropper or oral syringe to measure the dose accurately. Do not use a regular household spoon, as this can result in incorrect dosing.

If you are taking the orally disintegrating tablets, peel back the foil packaging with dry hands and immediately place the desloratadine tablet on your tongue. The medicine will dissolve quickly and can be swallowed with saliva or a small amount of water.

Missed dose: If you miss a dose of desloratadine, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose according to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose or extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

Storage: Store desloratadine at room temperature (between 15-30° C or 59-86° F) away from moisture, heat, and direct light in its original container, tightly closed. Do not store medications in the bathroom where they can be exposed to moisture and heat. Keep all medications safely out of reach of children and pets.

Unused medicine: Unused desloratadine should be disposed of in a way that children, other people, and pets cannot get to them. Do not throw desloratadine in the trash or flush it down the toilet.
