• You can take desloratadine with or without food.

• If you are taking the orally disintegrating tablet (ODT), remove the tablet from the blister pack just before you are ready to take it. Handle the ODT with dry hands. Place the tablet on your tongue and allow it to dissolve. You can swallow the medicine with saliva or a small amount of water.

• Avoid drinking alcohol while on desloratadine. Alcohol can make side effects like dizziness and drowsiness worse.

• Check with your healthcare provider before taking any over-the-counter antihistamines while on desloratadine. Taking more than one antihistamine at a time can put you at risk of severe side effects.
