Drysol Tips from Pharmacists

  • Apply Drysol (aluminum chloride hexahydrate topical) to fully dry skin. If you apply it to damp or wet skin, it won’t work as well and may cause irritation. Wait at least 2 hours after bathing or showering before applying topical aluminum chloride. You can also use a hair dryer in a cool setting to dry your skin completely.

  • Drysol does not work as well when you’re actively sweating. You should apply it overnight when your sweat glands are less active. Leave Drysol in place for 6-8 hours and wash it off with soap and water in the morning.

  • Do not apply aluminum chloride to irritated or broken skin. Wait at least 2 days after shaving before using Drysol.

  • Aluminum chloride can damage some types of fabric and metals. Avoid contact with metals. Wear old clothing to bed that you wouldn’t mind if it got damaged.

  • Don’t use other antiperspirants or deodorants while using Drysol. They can prevent it from working properly.
