How To Use Eletriptan (Relpax)

Take an eletriptan tablet by mouth at the first sign of a migraine headache. You can take a second dose after 2 or more hours have passed if your symptoms improve but come back after the initial dose. However, if you don’t get any improvement with the first dose of eletriptan, don’t take a repeat dose without consulting your healthcare provider.

Talk to your doctor about how many eletriptan tablets you can take in a 24-hour period for treating migraines.

Read the prescription label and patient information leaflet carefully. Take eletriptan exactly as advised. Do not change the dose or dosing frequency without your healthcare provider’s approval.

You may need to take the first dose of eletriptan in a doctor’s office so that you can be monitored for serious adverse events.

Tell your doctor if your headaches do not improve or become more frequent after starting eletriptan therapy.

Take eletriptan only if a clear diagnosis of migraine has been established. Eletriptan should not be used to treat certain types of headaches, such as cluster headaches or hemiplegic or basilar migraines.

Taking eletriptan more frequently or for longer than prescribed can make your headaches worse and/or more frequent. Do not take eletriptan or other headache medications on more than 10 days in a one-month period. Tell your doctor if you are needing to take eletriptan more than three times a month for treating migraines.

Missed dose: Eletriptan is taken on an as-needed basis for acute migraine headaches. Take the medicine at the first sign of a migraine attack. You can take a second dose after 2 hours or more if your symptoms come back. Do not take a second dose if you don’t get any improvement in your headache pain with the first dose. Do not take more than 80 mg of eletriptan in 24 hours.

Store eletriptan at room temperature (between 15-30° C or 59-86° F) away from moisture, heat, and direct light in a tightly closed container. Do not store medications in the bathroom where they can be exposed to moisture and heat. Keep all medications safely out of reach of children and pets.Store lisinopril at room temperature (between 15-30°C or 59-86°F) away from moisture, heat, and direct light in a tightly closed container. Keep lisinopril out of reach of children.

Unused medicine: Unused eletriptan should be disposed of in a way that children, other people, and pets cannot get to them. Do not throw eletriptan in the trash or flush it down the toilet. The best way to dispose of expired or unneeded eletriptan is through a drug take-back program. Learn more about proper medication disposal
