Enalapril (Vasotec) Tips from Pharmacists
Enalapril can cause dizziness by lowering blood pressure. Stand up slowly from a sitting or lying position to lower your risk of falls, especially when you first start taking enalapril and after dose adjustments.
Tell your doctor if you don’t notice any improvement in high blood pressure 2 weeks after starting enalapril. Your doctor may increase your dose or switch you to another blood pressure medicine.
Do not take salt substitutes without talking to your doctor for medical advice. This can lead to dangerously high potassium levels in the body.
Call your doctor if you find out you’re pregnant while on enalapril. This medicine can be harmful to an unborn baby.
