What may interact with ESBRIET?
This medicine may interact with the following medications:
-certain antiinfectives like ciprofloxacin, thiabendazole
-certain medicines for asthma like zafirlukast, zileuton, montelukast
-certain medicines for depression, anxiety, or psychotic disturbances
-certain medicines for irregular heart beat like amiodarone, mexiletine
-certain medicines for seizures like carbamazepine, phenytoin, fosphenytoin
-disulfiram
-stomach acid blockers like cimetidine
-vemurafenib
What should I tell my health care provider before I take ESBRIET?
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:
-kidney disease
-liver disease
-smoke tobacco
-an unusual or allergic reaction to pirfenidone, or other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
-pregnant or trying to get pregnant
-breast-feeding
What should I watch for while using ESBRIET?
Tell your doctor or healthcare professional if your symptoms do not start to get better or if they get worse.
If you smoke, tell your doctor if you notice this medicine is not working well for you. Talk to your doctor if you are a smoker or if you decide to stop smoking.
This medicine can make you more sensitive to the sun. Keep out of the sun. If you cannot avoid being in the sun, wear protective clothing and use sunscreen. Do not use sun lamps or tanning beds/booths.
Where should I keep my medicine?
Keep out of the reach of children.
Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.
