Febuxostat (Uloric) Side Effects
Common side effects of febuxostat are listed below. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects if they are severe or do not go away in a few days.
- Nausea
- Joint pain
Rarely, febuxostat can cause very serious side effects. Call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical help if you develop the following serious symptoms:
- Signs of an allergic reaction (skin rash, hives, itching, peeling, or blistering skin)
- Fever, flu-like symptoms, or other systemic symptoms
- Swelling of the face, eyes, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat
- Yellowing of the skin or eyes, right upper stomach pain, dark urine
The above list may not include all the potential side effects of febuxostat. Call your doctor if you have any unusual side effects or if the side effects do not get better over time. You can also report unusual side effects to the Food and Drug Administration at 1-800-FDA-1088.
Febuxostat Overdose: In case of an overdose of febuxostat, call your doctor immediately or call your local poison control center, provincial poison control center, or the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If a person has collapsed, stopped responding, stopped breathing, or had a seizure, call 911.
