Fluconazole Side Effects

Some of the common side effects of fluconazole are listed below. Tell your doctor if these adverse effects are severe or do not go away after a few days.

• Headache
• Dizziness
• Stomach pain
• Diarrhea
• Heartburn
• Changes in taste

Some of the adverse effects of fluconazole are more serious. Tell your doctor right away or seek emergency medical help if you experience symptoms such as:

• Nausea and vomiting
• Loss of appetite
• Pain in the right upper abdomen
• Yellowing of the eyes or skin
• Dark-colored urine
• Pale stools
• Flu-like symptoms
• Extreme tiredness or lack of energy
• Unusual bruising or bleeding
• Seizures
• Hives, skin rash, itching, blistering, or peeling skin
• Swelling of the face, hands, lower legs, or feet
• Difficulty breathing or swallowing

The above list may not include all the potential side effects of fluconazole. Call your doctor if you experience any severe or unusual symptoms. You can also report unusual side effects to the Food and Drug Administration at 1-800-FDA-1088.

Fluconazole Overdose: In case of a known or suspected overdose, immediately call your doctor or the local poison control center. If the person can’t be awakened, has had a seizure, or has trouble breathing, call 911. Signs and symptoms of a fluconazole overdose may include extreme fear and hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that aren’t there).
