Glipizide Side Effects

Possible side effects of glipizide are listed below. Call your doctor if they are severe or persist after a few days.

  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Gas or bloating
  • Dizziness
  • Headache 
  • Jitteriness
  • Uncontrolled shaking in any part of the body
  • Skin rash, redness, hives, itching, or blisters

Some of the side effects of glipizide are more serious. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects or seek emergency medical attention if you develop:

  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes
  • Right upper stomach pain
  • Dark urine
  • Light colored stool
  • Flu-like symptoms (fever, sore throat)
  • Unusual bleeding or bruising

Glipizide Overdose: In case of an overdose of glipizide, call your doctor immediately. You can also call your local poison control center or provincial or national poison control centers at 1-800-222-1222. Call 911 or emergency services if a person has collapsed, cannot breathe, has had a seizure, or cannot be awakened. Signs and symptoms of an overdose may include loss of consciousness and convulsions.
