Glyburide (Micronase) Tips from Pharmacists
Take glyburide with breakfast (the first meal of the day) or the largest meal of the day. Keep in mind that you should skip your dose of glyburide if you skip the largest meal of the day. Taking this medicine on an empty stomach can lead to low blood sugar.
Some people may experience dizziness on glyburide. Avoid doing anything that requires focus and concentration, such as driving a motor vehicle, until you know how this medicine affects you.
Avoid drinking alcohol while on glyburide as alcohol can make some of the adverse effects of this medicine worse.
Familiarize yourself with the signs and symptoms of low blood sugar, such as shakiness, confusion, sweating, low energy, and fast heartbeat. Always carry some fast-acting sugars like glucose tablets with you while on glyburide. Talk to your doctor about what to do if you have low blood sugar even after taking a fast-acting sugar for mild hypoglycemia.
