  • Glyburide can cause severe hypoglycemia (dangerously low blood sugar). The risk is higher in people with kidney or liver problems.
  • Glyburide is more likely to cause low blood sugar than other glucose-lowering drugs.

  • This medicine may not be the safest choice for older adults (age 65 and above).
  • Glyburide can cause mild weight gain.
  • This medicine does not treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
