Integra Plus Uses

Integra Plus tablets are used to treat iron deficiency anemia (low red blood cell count), for example, due to menorrhagia (heavy menstrual bleeding) or excessive blood loss, and during puberty, pregnancy, advanced age, or extended convalescence. It may also be used to treat folate deficiency and conditions in which iron deficiency and vitamin C deficiency occur together.

There may be other uses of Integra Plus—your doctor or pharmacist can give you further information.

Integra Plus Mechanism of Action

Integra Plus contains two different forms of iron compounds—ferrous fumarate and polysaccharide iron complex. Studies have shown that this combination of orally ingested iron provides a higher level of iron replacement with fewer side effects. Integra Plus also contains B vitamins, folic acid, and vitamin C.

Integra Plus Doses

Integra Plus is available as a capsule to take by mouth. Each capsule contains ferrous fumarate and polysaccharide iron complex, which provide 125 mg of elemental iron, as well as B vitamins, vitamin C, and folic acid. The recommended dose for people above 12 years of age is 1 capsule daily, taken between meals.

No clinical studies have been done in older adults (age 65 and over) who took Integra Plus, so we don’t know if older persons respond differently to this supplement compared to younger persons. In general, the dosage of all medications should be at the lower end of the usual dosage scale for elderly persons and people with concomitant diseases such as decreased hepatic function (liver disease), renal impairment (kidney disease), or decreased cardiac function (heart disease).
