  • Do not stop taking isosorbide mononitrate suddenly without talking to your doctor.

  • Oral isosorbide mononitrate cannot treat an acute angina attack or heart attack. Call 911 emergency medical services if you think you’re having a heart attack.

  • Isosorbide mononitrate can cause dizziness and lightheadedness. Change positions slowly while on this medicine.

  • Tell your provider if you get headaches after taking the medication and they are bothersome. This side effect usually decreases after your body adjusts. Do not change the dosing schedule without your doctor’s approval.

  • Avoid drinking alcohol while on isosorbide mononitrate as this can cause severe dizziness and hypotension (low blood pressure).]

  • It is not safe to take erectile dysfunction drugs while on isosorbide mononitrate. Talk to your doctor about other treatment options.
