Isosorbide Mononitrate Side Effects

Possible side effects of isosorbide mononitrate are listed below. Call your doctor for medical advice if they are severe or persist after a few days.

  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Upper respiratory infection
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Cough

Isosorbide mononitrate can also cause more serious side effects or an unusual or allergic reaction. Call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical attention if you develop:

  • A serious allergic reaction with skin rash, hives, itching
  • Swelling of the face or mouth
  • Trouble breathing or swallowing
  • Worsening chest pain

Isosorbide Mononitrate Overdose: In case of an overdose of isosorbide mononitrate, call your doctor immediately. You can also call your local poison control center, provincial poison control center, or the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Call 911 or emergency services if a person has collapsed, cannot breathe, has had a seizure, or cannot be awakened. Signs and symptoms of an overdose may include headache, dizziness, confusion, shortness of breath, slow or pounding heartbeat, vomiting, diarrhea, flushing, sweating, fainting, cold and clammy skin, inability to move, loss of consciousness, and convulsions.
