Januvia Side Effects

Some of the common side effects of Januvia are listed below. Tell your doctor if these symptoms are severe or do not go away after a few days.

• Stuffy nose or runny nose (symptoms of an upper respiratory tract infection)
• Headache
• Sore throat
• Diarrhea
• Nausea

There have been more severe adverse reactions reported among a small number of people taking Januvia. Stop taking Januvia and call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical help if you experience symptoms such as:

• Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, fever, and ongoing severe pain in the upper left or middle part of the abdomen
• Signs and symptoms of allergic reactions such as itching, blistering, peeling, rash, hives
• Swelling of the face, eyes, throat, tongue, or lips
• Shortness of breath
• Difficulty breathing or swallowing
• Swelling of the ankles and feet
• Rapid weight gain
• Severe joint pain

The above list may not include all the potential side effects of Januvia. Call your doctor if you experience any severe or unusual symptoms. You can also report unusual side effects to the Food and Drug Administration at 1-800-FDA-1088.

Januvia Overdose: In case of a known or suspected overdose, call your doctor, the local poison control center, or the provincial poison control center immediately. If the person can’t be awakened, has had a seizure, or has trouble breathing, call 911.
