What may interact with Juxtapid?
Do not take this medicine with any of the following medications:
-aprepitant, fosaprepitant
-berotralstat
-boceprevir
-calcium channel blockers like diltiazem and verapamil
-certain antibiotics like ciprofloxacin, clarithromycin, erythromycin and telithromycin
-certain antiviral medicines for HIV or AIDS
-certain medicines for fungal infections like fluconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, posaconazole, and voriconazole
-conivaptan
-crizotinib
-grapefruit juice
-imatinib
-nefazodone
This medicine may also interact with the following medications:
-acetaminophen
-ambrisentan
-bicalutamide
-birth control pills
-certain medicines for blood pressure, heart disease, irregular heart beat
-certain medicines for cholesterol like atorvastatin, lovastatin, simvastatin, cholestyramine, and colestipol
-certain medicines for depression, anxiety, or psychotic disturbances
-certain medicines for diabetes, like saxagliptin and sitagliptin
-certain medicines for stomach problems like cimetidine and ranitidine
-certain medicines that treat or prevent blood clots like warfarin, dabigatran, and ticagrelor
-cilostazol
-colchicine
-cyclosporine

What should I tell my health care provider before I take Juxtapid?
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:
-if you often drink alcohol
-intestine problems
-kidney disease
-liver disease
-pancreatic disease
-an unusual or allergic reaction to lomitapide, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
-pregnant or trying to get pregnant
-breast-feeding
What should I watch for while using Juxtapid?
To help prevent stomach problems while taking this medicine, you should stay on a low-fat diet. This medicine makes it harder for some nutrients to get into your body. You should take Vitamin E and fatty acids each day while you are taking this medicine. Talk to your doctor or healthcare provider about how to add these to your diet.
Do not become pregnant while taking this medicine. Women should inform their doctor if they wish to become pregnant or think they might be pregnant. There is a potential for serious side effects to an unborn child. Talk to your health care professional or pharmacist for more information. Birth control pills may not work properly while you are taking this medicine. Talk to your doctor about using an extra or different method of birth control.
This medicine can cause liver injury. The risk of liver injury is increased in patients who drink alcohol while taking this medicine. Do not drink more than one alcoholic drink per day while taking this medicine.
Where should I keep my medicine?
Keep out of the reach of children.
Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.
